MBBS Education

B.Med./B.Sc. is a professional degree programme that allows students to practise medicine and surgery. MBBS is a two-degree programme, but it is only awarded as a single degree. The duration for MBBS is 5 1/2 years, plus one year for the mandatory residential internship. The MBBS programme follows a semester format, with students taking theory and practical classes over the course of nine semesters and four yearly exams.

Eligibility Criteria For MBBS

In India, there are just three medical entrance exams: NEET UG, AIIMS MBBS, and JIPMER MBBS. Apart from AIIMS and JIPMER, students would be needed to appear for NEET to gain admission to MBBS courses in the country and even outside the country.

Students need to pass class 12th with core subjects being English, physics, chemistry and biology and should score minimum 50% in every subject.

Medical entrance exams require candidates to be at least 17 years old. Candidates beyond the age of 25 are not eligible for NEET, although they are eligible for AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS.

Job Opportunities

Students serve as medical consultants, physicians, medical assistants in critical care units, and other clinical roles at hospitals and healthcare centres during their one-year internship as part of their MBBS degree. Students can register as doctors with the Medical Council of India after completing their MBBS Internship (MCI). They can either pursue a post-graduate degree in medical science (MD/MS) or continue working as trained doctors in the health industry
